Product Description:

As with all Forge de Laguiole folding pocket knives made exclusively in the French village of Laguiole, “Le Sommelier” is quite possibly the most elegant corkscrew you will find anywhere. Highly prized by wine enthusiasts from around the world, its ergonomic design and functionality won it the coveted prize Design Plus award at the Ambiente International Trade Fair (1996) in Frankfurt, Germany.

This model features a conical screw with a 5-turn spiral to ensure perfect penetration in the cork; a foil cutter/lifter that is molded in the foundry and designed for ease of use and intensive long-term utilization, and an incredibly exotic and rare Thuya wood handle (deep brown, honey colored wood with lots of "eyes"), which makes it extra special as a gift. Although a slightly different design from the folding pocket knife model, it also has a distinctive Bee on the spine, a symbol of Laguiole, to ensure its authenticity. Authentic in its provenance and featuring the traditional shepherd cross on the handle, each one is handmade by the same craftsman to ensure pride in the completed piece.

Legend says that the inhabitants of Laguiole drew a cross on the handle, so by planting their knife into the ground, it became an alter of prayer. The uncompromising fit and finish make these “pieces of art,” to be cherished and handed down by wine lovers from generation to generation. Comes beautifully packaged, making it a wonderful gift for that special loved one, as an executive gift, or to reward and acknowledge a professional colleague celebrating a milestone or retirement.

PLEASE NOTE: Actual handle color and pattern of the item you receive may vary from stock photo displayed on product page.
